HIV Testing
There are postulates describing the development of malignant mesothelioma related to HIV immune suppression or HIV and/or cytomegalovirus or zidovudine and is a complication of AIDS similar to the development of other malignant neoplasms in patients with AIDS.
A case in point, a 35 year-old gay male was found to be HIV positive in 1984. In 1987 he developed full-blown AIDS; he began treatment with zidovudine in 1989.
In 1990 the patient developed left apical pleural blebs, a pneumothorax and an exudative pleural effusion. A malignant mesothelioma developed at the pleural blebs in the left apex. Even though the patient was treated with medication, the rapid progression on mesothelioma claimed his life three months after diagnosis.
An autopsy report showed that malignant mesothelioma caused respiratory failure which resulted in the death of the individual. The autopsy also showed that the patient had not been exposed to asbestos or asbestosis. The forensic pathologist surmised that the development of mesothelioma was related to HIV immune suppression. AIDS is known to cause other malignant neoplasms; so it is a logical assumption that the development of mesothelioma, which has similar development, was due to advanced HIV.
HIV, Human immunodeficiency virus
, is a retrovirus that attacks the body's immune system. This leaves the body unable to fight infection. Eventually, HIV turns to AIDS, Acquired ImmunoDeficiency Syndrome. Once a patient has been diagnosised with AIDS, life expentance is about three years. Since AIDS leaves the body unable to stave off infections, generally the cause of death is related to complications of an infection, such as pneumonia.
Since Undercover Condoms
HIV already puts the body at high risk to develop infection, patients need to take extra precautions to avoid situations where they could be in contact with communicable germs.
Below are some of the symptoms associated with HIV:
- Oral thrush - a yeast infection in the mouth
- Frequent vaginal yest infections
- Severe or prolonged diarrhea
- Swollen lymph nodes
- Weight loss
- Excessive sweating and/or night sweats
- Bacterial pneumonia
- Skin disorders and/or infections
- Pap smear that shows cervical dysplasia
Many of the symptoms on this list are generally not life threatening and do not necessarily mean that you have HIV. Additionally, many patients diagnosised with HIV do not exhibit any symptoms.
If you have been exposed to HIV and would like to conduct an HIV test in the privacy of your own home, you can order a test discreetly online at Undercover Condoms
